accept minutes as submitted. Patrick
Nolan seconded. Motion passed by voice
vote.

and New Members – New members: Hal
Reichart; Louis Behling; Joe Metler; Tom Campbell. Guest – Beth Fowler.

Program – Sarah Fryer, the CSD Community Liaison spoke about the many programs
happening in the district –
o
Corvallis Student Care Pantry is just starting
up. The Executive Committee had recently
voted to purchase 10 shelving units for the pantry (approx. cost was
$500.).
o
There will be Veterans Day activities at the schools
on November 10. A ceremony and lunch
will be provided to any veteran who attends.
o
Christmas Tree Lighting on November 28th.
o
Angel Tree Program at Elementary and Middle School
starting after Thanksgiving.
o
Sarah also indicated that Superintendent Pete Joseph
would like to speak at our November meeting.
Membership – 2023-24 new
members and renewals to date are 158. This year’s goal is now 210.
Committee Reports:

Bitterroot Valley
Military Program: See attached report.
Marc Sabin motioned that the Post send a get well card to Cadet Wesley
Kolberg who recently underwent surgery.
Bobby Tucker seconded the motion.
Motion passed by voice vote.

·
Radio Club – Doug Mason reported on the preparations for the Great International Shake
Out exercise of which the club will be a key part. There will be a tabletop exercise on Oct 19th.
·
Scholarships/School
Activities – Marc spoke briefly about the need for help with the
upcoming school Oratory, Essay, and Survey tests. Pat Clover mentioned that the first career
day will be held on December 13 with the military recruiters.
·
Bitterroot
Marksmanship Club – David Naber reported that the first shot ceremony
was well attended. They will be
sponsoring a turkey shoot as a fund raiser for the Darby Food Bank to be held
November 13,16 &17.
·
Fishing Club – Four people attended the fly-casting clinic.
·
Auxiliary – Linda was absent, but Linda passed on that they will be having a
Christmas party at the Bitterroot Brewery on a December date to be announced
next month.
·
House and
Entertainment – Next
event will be Veterans Day Parade and Dinner.
Our 2023 Boys State delegates will be the guest speakers. There will be
a robocall sent out in mid-October to ask for attendees to RSVP. Deadline for reservations is 1 November.

Commander’s Report – No formal report. Commander
Harris emphasized that there are many opportunities for Post members to work
with the school district.

Business:

Social
Media – Randi said she had been very
busy with work but plans on doing a year in review type posting soon.
·
Active
Duty Reconnect Evaluation – Several
board members discussed the Executive Committee’s deliberations about the
program. The Committee has passed a
motion that this year’s program would focus on giving ‘1 Day” of
events to military members who return home to the Bitterroot area for leave.
This could entail meals out for families, a family ski trip, etc. This does not preclude the more expansive
program from being resurrected in the future.

Fundraising – Doug reported that the filming for the fundraising video occurred that
morning at Jack’s Place. About 10
members participated. No ETC for the
video but it shouldn’t be too long.
New
Business
·
CSD#1
Needs – These were covered under
Sarah Fryer’s talk. The Post will be
participating in the upcoming downtown Corvallis Trunk or Treat on Halloween.
·
Honoring
the Military Day at UM – Doug is
working on the Jeep being part of the day at UM on Nov 4th. We will be part of a static display on the
University Oval prior to the game.
·
Future Fundraising
Opportunities – Doug is also looking into the possibilities of the
Post being a concessionaire at the Darby Rodeo.
There was a voice vote of confidence for Doug to continue to investigate.

Pint
Night – Jim McHugh brought up
holding another Pint night at The Hops Brewery in Victor. The membership was enthusiastic, and he will investigate
available dates.
·
Monthly Pot of Gold Drawing – Member Robert Leever’s name was drawn. He was not
present to win the $500 Frontier Guns
and Ammo gift certificate.
