Roy Charles Meyer

HAMILTON - Roy Charles Meyer, age 93, passed away Friday, March 24, 2017, at the Marcus Daly Hospice Center in Hamilton. He was born on October 31, 1923 in Buffalo, New York to Fred and Marie (Bach) Meyer.
He attended Kensington High School graduating in 1943. Shortly after he enlisted into the Navy; he served on the USS LSM 215 with duty in Pearl Harbor, Guam, Okinawa and most South Pacific islands.
After his service commitment, he went into law enforcement with the Buffalo Police Dept. Roy met his wife Doris in 1947 and they were married a year later. With two kids and a wife in tow, Roy moved his family to Burbank, California, in 1956 and continued his career in law enforcement.
Roy retired in 1983 and with Doris they moved to the Bitterroot Valley in 1990. He continued to get involved with his Church, the Corvallis American Legion, Corvallis Civic Club and police associations in Burbank and Hamilton. Roy was also a member of a Radio club and signed on faithfully on Wednesday nights.
He enjoyed working outdoors, building clocks, woodworking and starting a variety of fruit trees indoors.
Roy is survived by daughter, Barbara Meyer-Johnson of Hamilton and a son, Roy Meyer Jr. of Santa Clarita, California. He has three grandchildren and eight great grandchildren with numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, April 4, at Grace Lutheran Church with Pastor Vern Sandersfeld officiating. Urn placement will take place at Corvallis Cemetery, military honors will be provided by the U.S Navy and the Corvallis American Legion. Arrangements are under the care of the Daly-Leach Chapel in Hamilton.
